A Chinese prisoner who spent three years behind bars says he saw the sun for only 10 hours a year while he was there.

A Chinese-Australian journalist who once worked for China’s official television and is now being detained on unspecified espionage accusations has spoken out about her circumstances, most notably the fact that she is only permitted to stand in sunlight for a total of 10 hours per year. The journalist is currently being held on unspecified espionage charges. It is only permissible for her to expose her skin to direct sunlight for a total of 10 hours each year.

Cheng Lei, a journalist, has been held hostage in Australia for the last three years. On the occasion of this anniversary, she has written a letter to the people of Australia in which she expresses her love for the nation that she now believes to be her home. Cheng Lei has been held captive in Australia for the past three years. Cheng is still awaiting the court’s verdict after being tried on claims of national security in a trial that took place behind closed doors a year ago. He is still waiting for the judge to make a decision about his case.

Cheng said in a letter that her boyfriend Nick Coyle circulated that she enjoys “every bushwalk, river, lake, beach with swims and picnics and colorful sunsets, the sky that is filled up with stars, and the tranquil and hidden song of the bush.” Nick Coyle was the one who spread the letter. Nick Coyle was the one who informed Cheng about the letter; in other words, Nick was the one who brought it to Cheng’s attention. She has not been able to see the sun or a tree ever since her arrest, and she has conveyed in her writing how much she yearns to see a tree again.

Even though the windows in my cell face south and let me plenty of light, I am only permitted to spend a total of ten hours outdoors each year. Despite the fact that my window is on the southern side of the house, this is the case.

Penny Wong, the Minister for Foreign Affairs for Australia, has said that her country would continue to lobby for Cheng’s interests and welfare, as well as offer help to Cheng and her family. In addition, Australia will continue to provide assistance to Cheng and her family.

In a statement that he published, Wong made the claim that “Ms. Cheng’s speech to the public makes obvious her immense devotion to our nation.” Everyone in Australia is keeping their fingers crossed and hoping that she will soon be able to see her children again as quickly as possible.

Wong said that Australia has been making repeated attempts to achieve Cheng’s release and has “requested that fundamental principles of justice, procedural fairness, and humane treatment” be fulfilled for her “in line with international conventions.” Cheng is being held in a facility that does not comply with the fundamental values of justice, procedural fairness, and humane treatment. There is currently no plan in place to ensure Cheng’s release. At the present moment, Cheng is being held in detention in China for reasons that are still unclear.

During an interview that Coyle gave to the national network Australian Broadcasting Corp., he said that Cheng had been given permission to write to him beginning in September of the year before. Coyle stated that this authority had been provided to Cheng.

It is permissible for a representative from the Australian embassy to visit with Cheng for a total of thirty minutes, during which time they may bring her mail. According to Coyle, Cheng is now being held at a facility that reports to and receives its orders from the Ministry of State Security. According to him, the factor that was giving her the most trouble was the toll that the protracted separation from her children was taking. This was the item that he thought was causing her the most difficulty. This was the obstacle that he anticipated would provide the most significant struggle for her to overcome.

He pointed out that after the passing of three years that happened after Cheng’s abduction, her daughter has already started attending high school, and her son is on the verge of commencing enrollment.

Although it’s conceivable that being Chinese has something to do with it, I feel as if I’ve allowed my emotions to carry me into new territory. It’s possible that being Chinese has something to do with it. “I miss my children the most,” Cheng reportedly said in her letter at some point.

When Cheng was only ten years old, she and her family traveled all the way to Australia from China. Now 48 years old, she has accomplished this milestone in her life. Upon her return to China, she began working straight away in the department of the Chinese state television network CCTV which is responsible for handling matters pertaining to foreign affairs. It is unclear what led to her arrest and the legal actions that followed against her after that. If Cheng is found guilty of spying for a foreign power or leaking sensitive information about the Chinese government, he bears the chance of being sentenced to a significant amount of time behind bars. This risk is compounded if the espionage or leaking occurred in China.

The Chinese government has been accused of arresting foreign people, especially those who were born in the country, in order to achieve diplomatic advantages or get the release of Chinese nationals who were sought for a variety of crimes and were living outside of China. This accusation has been made in order to obtain the release of Chinese nationals who were wanted outside of China. This claim was brought up in an attempt to win the freedom of Chinese citizens who were residing in countries other than China at the time. Since the current administration in Australia gained office, there has been a noticeable improvement in the state of relations between the two nations. This comes after China placed a stop on its connections with Australia in response to Canberra’s charges of Chinese political meddling and harassment of the local Chinese community, as well as an inquiry into the origins of Covid-19. China put a hold on its ties with Australia after Canberra accused China of interfering in Australian politics and harassing the local Chinese population.

Coyle has said that he wants that politics would be kept out of the investigation; nevertheless, he accepts that the resolution of the case may be beneficial to the connection that now exists between the two nations. Coyle wishes that politics would be kept out of the investigation; however, he acknowledges that the resolution of the case may be beneficial to the relationship that presently holding between the two countries. “I believe finding a solution to it would enhance the climate surrounding the bilateral relationship and permit a focus on the good features that a partnership would provide,” he continued. “This is something that we all want to see, so finding a solution to it would be something that we could all look forward to seeing.” “I think resolving it would improve the environment that surrounds the bilateral connection and enable a concentrate on the wonderful features that a partnership would bring.” “I feel that finding a solution to it would improve the atmosphere that surrounds the bilateral relationship.” “I think it would be interesting for everyone to see it.”
